The village lies about 5km to the south of the City of Wakefield
on the B6378 that links the A61 Barnsley Road, Sandal Magna (A61), with the A638 Doncaster Roadin the village of Crofton.

Memorial on Shay Lane (B6378) - top left of map. The village
can also be reached along the route of the disused Barnsley
Canal - now part of the Trans Pennine Trail.
The
opencast workings south of Thorntree Hill shown on this map
have now gone and the land returned to agricultural use. |
