-s.jpg) The last one remaining of of Waterton's stone hides or watchtowers, rebuilt a few years ago. The hide is located in the south-eastern
corner of Walton Park in the Heronry area. Public access is permitted.
Access is via a gate in the wall from Haw Park and a footpath through
the trees inside the wall. There are fine views over Waterton Park Golf
Course.

The hide has been restored by Rotary Club of Wakefield and other agencies with the help of a
£25,000 National Lottery grant under the Local Heritage Initiative.
The roof has not been placed on the hide for 'structural reasons' (it has a flat roof instead) but is on display on the ground nearby.
